In the summer of 2012, I visited Gärdslösa prästgård on Öland and was captivated by the life and work of the Swedish 19th century poet Erik Johan Stagnelius.
So I started photographing Öland motifs inspired by Stagnelius’s poetry. This resulted first in an exhibition at Gärdslösa prästgård in 2013 and later in an exhibition at Jakobsbergs konsthall in 2017.
The photographs should not be seen as interpretations of Stagnelius’s works but as my personal expressions inspired by them. As reflections of another time, that is how I think of these photographs.
